After another trip to the library, I am DROWNING in material for my two new courses on database systems (dbs) and business process modeling (bpm). I am surprised to see however how little the field of software has moved in the last 15 years. Patterns seem to be the only new, fruitful concepts on the horizon. Otherwise everything is “integration”, and it’s not easy to understand or do – meaning, it stands on poor foundations. Found some great (free) products though:

Open Source Commerce, a (complete?) e-commerce backend, and phpwcms, a web-based content management system (developed in Germany). Try ’em!
